LAFCO BUDGET--CURRENT FISCAL YEAR
LAFCO has adopted a final budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009.

GRAND JURY
The 2008-9 Santa Cruz County Grand Jury has titled one section of their final report "Who is Watching Our Special Districts?". State law requires LAFCO to respond to the findings and recommendations of this section.

COUNTYWIDE SERVICE REVIEW

August 2005, LAFCO accepted the Countywide Service Review, which evaluates municipal-type services provided by 88 agencies with annual budgets that total more than $240,000,000:

In March 2002, a non-profit group called Action Pajaro Valley completed and published a growth management strategy for the Pajaro Valley. LAFCO is not affiliated with Action Pajaro Valley and has not endorsed its growth management strategy. WATER REPORT
As is the situation in much of the American west, water is a critical issue in Santa Cruz County. Though blessed with plentiful rainfall in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the major water purveyors in the County are stressed to provide adequate water supplies without depleting the groundwater aquifers and stream sources. LAFCO has compiled supply and demand information from all major water suppliers, and has summarized the current and projected water situation in its 2001 Water Report:

In 2000, the state Commission on Local Governance for the 21st Century issued its report recommending changes in the state laws that govern city, county, and special district boundary changes:
